In short: Miauw is a music player for audio files on your device and in your Google Drive. We do not run servers, we do not show ads and we do not track you across apps. The only data sent to us is anonymous crash and performance diagnostics, to help fix bugs. Everything else stays on your device or goes directly between your device and Google.

Developer: Abdul Aziz (Blogdoang) · Contact: aziz@blogdoang.com · App: Miauw - Cloud Music Player (com.blogdoang.miauw) for Android, Android Auto and Android TV.

What the app accesses

Your Google account

When you connect Google Drive, Miauw reads your name, email address and profile photo to show which account is connected. This stays on your device and is never sent to a server we operate.

Your Google Drive files

Miauw asks Google for permission to read your Drive (drive.readonly) and to manage the files it creates itself (drive.file). With that, the app:

  • lists the audio files and folders you choose to add, including Shared drives and files shared with you;
  • streams those songs directly from Google's servers to your device;
  • if you turn on offline caching, keeps encrypted copies of songs on your device so they play without a connection;
  • if you use Android TV, keeps a small Miauw folder in your own Drive with the list of TVs you signed in on and the songs you chose for them. This is how songs picked on your phone appear on your TV. Only your Google account can see it.

Miauw never copies, uploads or shares your music with anyone else. Its use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Music on your device

Miauw reads the audio files and folders you choose to add from your device's storage, or on Android TV from the TV and connected USB drives, and reads their tags and cover art.

Lyrics

To find synced lyrics, Miauw sends the song title, artist, album and length of the song being played to the public LRCLIB lyrics service. Nothing that identifies you is sent with it. Lyrics you type yourself are never replaced or sent anywhere.

Where data is stored

Everything Miauw keeps is stored on your device only:

  • your library, playlists, favourites, ratings, lyrics and play history, in a local database;
  • offline copies of songs, encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and cover art;
  • your settings and equalizer profiles.

We do not have servers. No data leaves your device except direct requests to Google (sign-in, Google Drive, crash and performance reports) and to LRCLIB for lyrics. A library backup is only made when you export one, and it is saved where you choose.

Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring collect device information such as the device model, Android version, app version, crash logs and timing data. This is not linked to your Google account and is not used for advertising. Miauw does not use Firebase Analytics or any advertising SDK.

Music and audio (read)Adding music saved on your device or TV.

Nearby devices (Bluetooth)Optional. Shows details of the connected Bluetooth headphones or speaker in the audio output settings. Asked only when you tap it there.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, track you across other apps or websites, or show ads.

Deleting your data

  • Everything at once: Profile → Delete My Data clears cached music and artwork, resets your library, signs you out, revokes Miauw's access to Google Drive and deletes the app's settings and encryption keys.
  • Offline copies only: Profile → Clear all cache.
  • Google access: Profile → Sign out, or remove Miauw at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • TV song list: signing out on the TV removes it from the list; you can also delete the Miauw folder in your Drive.
  • Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from the device.

Because we have no servers, there is no account or copy of your data held by us to delete. Crash and performance reports are kept by Firebase for a limited time, as described in its policy.

Children

Miauw is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

  • Offline copies of songs are encrypted and authenticated with AES-256-GCM, using a key kept in the Android Keystore, so a copied or changed file cannot be played elsewhere.
  • All network traffic uses HTTPS.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will also mention it in the app's release notes.
